JOB SUMMARY:
The SBT Inventory Accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting Systems Manager by managing aspects of the company’s shrink and inventory for over 4,000 store locations nationwide. This position also performs monthly inventory reconciliation procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree in Accounting/Business/Economics highly preferred or minimum 1-3 years professional experience in Accounting involving inventory.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel (must have experience using Vlookup and Pivot tables)
- 1-3 years of experience with ADP, Great Plains accounting systems highly preferred.
- Must be reliable and dependable to complete tasks and projects within specific time constraints
- Strong communication skills – Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing with team members, managers and customers

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
Inventory:
- Posts retail stores physical inventories to the Excell accounting system
- Processes and analyzes detailed inventory transactions for all SBT Chains and investigates any problems found.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize inventory management and reduce costs.
- Maintains integrity of internal and external accounting databases (Great Plains & PCG)
- Partners with distribution, to ensure all deliveries to stores are being accounted for accurately and work through any discrepancies.
- Balances EDI data to accounting system during the month for deliveries, returns and sales received for SBT customers
- Performs all external calculations of shrink per store and item; exhausting all possible adjustments to reduce shrink and calculate accurate shrink
- Calculate shared shrink and bills customer’s when needed
- Gain a complete understanding of the accounting flow to/from scan-based trading stores
- Monthly and weekly reconciliation of inventory counts and shrink reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking and standing functions. Frequent repetitive motion activities are required. Must be able to read print and computer based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise.
