Position Summary
The Risk Manager will manage and execute the company’s risk management program while mentoring and actively supporting field and project teams on insurance, surety, claims and compliance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Certificate of Insurance (COI) Compliance & Coverage Management
- Implement the corporate Risk Management program and develop and enhance the strategy as business needs dictate.
- Provide recommendations to improve risk management strategy and oversee implementation of the approved changes.
- Deliver risk and insurance training to corporate staff and project teams as needed to raise organizational awareness of risk management strategy.
- Collaborate with project management, legal, safety, accounting and subcontractors to support claims resolution, risk reporting, and compliance with company standards and contractual requirements.
- Manage project insurance files and accurately track the status of each certificate required.
- Review subcontractor’s certificates of insurance to confirm compliance with organizational and contractual requirements.
- Lead the administration of the Builders Risk insurance program confirming appropriate coverage when provided by project Owner and directing placement to the most appropriate market when it is company responsibility.
- Review contracts, incident reports, claims documentation and operational data to identify potential risks and compliance concerns.
- Create opportunities for risk mitigation and process improvement.
- Manage the collection and confirm accuracy of subcontractor’s surety bonds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Cross-Functional Risk Issue Resolution & Risk Coordination
- Work with the legal team, Senior Director of Risk Management, and the Directors of Operations to resolve unusual insurance issues.
- Coordinate multi-departmental teams to identify risks, assess potential financial impact, establish an approach to mitigate, monitor, and report in an appropriate manner.
Prequalification & Reporting Support
- Support the subcontractor prequalification process and take the lead on the insurance portion.
- Establish and maintain standards for accurate tracking, reporting, and documentation of risk and claims information.
- Provide accurate claims and exposure data to support insurance renewals.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
- Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Professional risk management or insurance certifications (ARM, CRM, CPCU, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Vista Viewpoint
- Construction experience
- Growth mindset
Other:
- Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
- Travel – less than 10%

- Navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, attend off-site meetings
- Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
Salary Range: $90,000 to $125,000 annually, plus discretionary incentive program.
While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
