Position Overview

Then consider working for the Illinois Department of Revenue.  We are hiring a Customer Service Specialist Trainee-Spanish Speaking option (Revenue Tax Specialist Trainee-Spanish Speaking) for our Taxpayer Assistance district office in Rockford, IL. In this position, you will be trained in how to assist taxpayers and their representatives on the various tax types and tax laws affecting: Individual Income Tax; Withholding Income Tax; Sales and Use Tax; Business Income Tax, and Business Registration.  You will also receive training on GenTax and MyTax Illinois software. While working with the department staff, taxpayers, businesses, and local governments on the telephone, in person, and through email, you will also learn interpersonal skills and acquire excellent customer service skills. The average training period will be 12 months which culminates in a promotion to the professional title of Customer Service Specialist I-Spanish Speaking (Revenue Tax Specialist I-Spanish Speaking). Due to the nature of duties for this position and operational need, work is expected to be performed fully in office with no hybrid schedule available. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program are required to take a written proficiency exam OR obtain a degree or license (a combination of certificate and credential). Vacancies for dual titles are filled using the same priorities as are used for certificates.
