Job Summary

This experienced role owns the property tax function end to end, including asset valuation, assessment review, appeals, compliance filings, and accruals. The role manages outside tax providers, appraisers, and counsel, and partners regularly with business leaders in development, construction, FP&A, real estate, and fixed asset accounting on forecasts and actual payments.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

•Prepare the LRP property tax forecast and communicate key assumptions to upper management.

•Manage payment funding approvals and information requests across departments and jurisdictions.

•Support the protest and appeal process with outside consultants and counsel through resolution.

•Review property tax forecast models for appropriate assumptions for the development team.

•Analyze financial statements and data as they relate to tax compliance and tax planning.


Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMI, or similar certification preferred.

•3-5 years of relevant property tax experience; Big 4 accounting firm or property tax valuation firm background preferred.

•Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and property tax requirements and the underlying policies, practices, and procedures of public companies.

•Prior experience managing outside tax providers, with strong analytical, modeling, and communication skills.


Key Metrics

•Filings and payments made by statutory deadline, with penalties and interest minimized and limited.

•Actual property tax expense tracks closely to the LRP and annual budget forecast, with variances explained.

•Appeal activity delivers meaningful annual savings; outcomes tracked on contested parcels.

•Information requests and funding approvals turned around withing 5 days to support business partners.
