Our Pipeline Construction & Integrity Programs group is currently looking to add a Project Controller to our growing team, working on-site across projects in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, we are seeking a detail-driven Project Controller who has proven experience in project controls, cost tracking, scheduling, and change management within pipeline or energy infrastructure construction. We are looking for someone to build the work breakdown structure behind a project, work closely in the field to identify change as they happen, and keep the cost and schedule picture accurate day to day. The position will support major mainline construction projects, pipeline and facility construction programs, and integrity dig work executed under master service agreements. Please Note: this is a field-based position working on-site at various project locations throughout Alberta. Living out allowance will be paid while on assignment. Shift schedules vary by project, ranging from 6 days on / 1 day off up to 24 days on / 4 days off. Extended hours may be required during active construction and around reporting and billing cycles. Duties and Responsibilities Build and maintain work breakdown structure so that scope, schedule, and cost all code back to the same structure Work directly with Superintendents and the Project Manager to capture accurate quantities, production, hours, and progress from the field Identify and document changes as they occur, and develop the pricing detail and backup behind each change order Initiate and manage purchase orders and subcontract agreements in the ERP system, from issue through receipt and close Audit and validate project invoicing and charges against purchase orders, subcontracts, and work actually performed Build and maintain the project schedule, including the baseline, progress updates, forecast, and rolling look-aheads Compile cost actuals, committed costs, and forecasts, and prepare the monthly cost report and earned value calculations Maintain project document control, the change log, and the risk and value-add registers Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly client and internal reporting, and support meeting administration Direct and review the work of a Project Administrator where one is assigned, and run the full controls function independently where one is not Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent 3 years experience in project controls, project coordination, cost control, scheduling, or construction administration Demonstrated experience in pipeline construction, integrity, or comparable energy infrastructure work Proven experience building and maintaining work breakdown structure, schedule, and cost structure that tie together Working experience in an ERP or construction management system, including purchase orders, subcontracts, and invoice review Strong command of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, and advanced spreadsheet skills Valid driver's license Preferred Skills / Qualifications Post-Secondary education in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related discipline Pipeline estimating experience Experience working under master service agreements Progress toward a project management or project controls certification such as PMP, CAPM, or PMI-SP Benefits We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that includes a complete range of employee benefits to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
