Procurement Specialist
Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Fairfield, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to support production schedules, project timelines, and customer commitments within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Quality to ensure materials and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with technical and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong supplier management skills and experience supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute procurement activities to support production schedules and project deadlines.

Review engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications to determine purchasing requirements.

Create, issue, and manage purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems.

Source materials and services by obtaining, evaluating, and comparing supplier quotes based on price, quality, and delivery.

Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and purchasing terms with suppliers.

Monitor procurement schedules, open purchase orders, and supplier performance to ensure timely material availability.

Expedite critical materials and resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, documentation, or lead times.

Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Accounting, and Project Management to support project execution.

Identify procurement risks, long-lead items, and supply chain constraints while developing mitigation strategies.

Support supplier development, qualification, and continuous performance improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards.
Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.

Experience using ERP/MRP systems and purchasing software.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.

Strong supplier management, negotiation, and vendor relationship skills.

Experience sourcing materials, obtaining competitive quotations, and managing supplier performance.

Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, procurement workflows, and supply chain operations.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience supporting estimating, cost roll-ups, or supplier qualification programs is a plus.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems is preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Exposure to industrial conditions, including machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.

Occasional travel to supplier or customer locations may be required.
