- Ensure materials are available to support production while minimizing excess inventory.
- Manage supplier relationships to drive quality, service, and cost improvements.
- Balance daily purchasing demands with longer-term sourcing and optimization projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory turns, reduce obsolete inventory, and maximize cash flow.
- Support ERP and process improvement initiatives while maintaining uninterrupted purchasing operations.
- Develop sustainable purchasing processes and documentation that support organizational growth.
- Contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives while maintaining excellence in daily execution.
- Execute purchase orders for assigned commodities.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, and material availability.
- Coordinate closely with Production Planning to ensure materials are available to support customer demand.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving discrepancies, and material shortages.
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and inventory information within ERP systems.
- Participate in inventory counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers.
- Request and evaluate supplier quotations.
- Support competitive bidding and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Analyze spend data and identify sourcing opportunities.
- Coordinate supplier trials, material testing, and qualification efforts.
- Develop secondary sources to reduce supply risk.
- Support new product development and innovation initiatives through supplier partnerships.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory turns and reduce obsolete inventory.
- Support SKU rationalization and inventory optimization projects.
- Develop and maintain procurement-related SOPs.
- Participate in ERP, PrintVis, and process improvement initiatives.
- Track supplier performance metrics and support supplier performance reviews.
- Knowledge of procurement, purchasing, inventory management, and material planning principles within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, and supplier performance measurement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and spend data to support business decisions.
- Experience utilizing KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and reporting tools to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to balance material availability, inventory investment, and customer requirements to support operational goals.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in purchasing transactions, inventory records, and supplier documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Operations, Production Planning, Sales, Accounting, Quality, and supplier partners.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions that improve efficiency, inventory performance, and supplier effectiveness.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Results-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a sense of urgency.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and commodity purchasing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, data analysis)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within paper, packaging, printing, or related manufacturing industries.
- APICS CPIM or ISM CPSM certification or active pursuit of certification.
- Microsoft Business Central experience.
- Experience with sourcing processes such as RFQ’s, supplier qualification and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Exposure to strategic sourcing initiatives and cost-reduction projects.
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive business information.
