The Procurement Sourcing Specialist III is responsible for leading sourcing and supplier-management activities for assigned materials, suppliers, categories, and projects. The role ensures reliable material availability, competitive total cost, effective supplier performance, and proactive mitigation of supply risk in alignment with divisional objectives and enterprise procurement standards. The Procurement Sourcing Specialist III leads sourcing projects, negotiations, cost-improvement initiatives, supplier performance activities, and supply-risk mitigation within assigned areas. The role serves as a key procurement partner to cross-functional stakeholders and translates business requirements into effective sourcing solutions.

What will you do?
Supplier Evaluation, Qualification & Selection
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and select suppliers based on total cost, quality, delivery, capacity, technical capability, and risk.
- Research supplier markets and develop alternative sources to strengthen supply continuity and competitiveness.
- Develop and execute RFQs and RFPs and lead the commercial evaluation of supplier proposals.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into sourcing events, supplier selections, and agreements.
- Make supplier recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis and approved sourcing strategies.
- Lead supplier negotiations for assigned materials, categories, and projects within established authority.
Supplier Performance & Supply Risk Management
- Own supplier performance and supply continuity for assigned materials, suppliers, or categories.
- Proactively identify financial, operational, capacity, quality, logistics, and continuity risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
- Develop and implement new sources of supply to reduce operational and financial exposure.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions when performance does not meet requirements.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve complex supplier performance and supply-continuity issues.
Sourcing, Cost & Value Improvement
- Lead strategic and tactical sourcing activities for assigned materials, projects, or categories.
- Apply structured sourcing processes to evaluate supply markets and identify competitive sourcing opportunities.
- Analyze quotations, cost structures, inventory trends, market conditions, and internal and external performance metrics to support sourcing decisions.
- Evaluate total cost of ownership when making sourcing recommendations.
- Support Category Management and Procurement leadership with supplier, market, cost, and performance insights.
- Lead or support make-versus-buy, footprint, supplier-consolidation, and other sourcing initiatives.
Contract & Commercial Management
- Negotiate commercial terms and supplier agreements within established authority.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure requirements are appropriately translated into contracts and commercial agreements.
- Manage assigned supplier contracts throughout their lifecycle, including documentation, implementation, monitoring, and expiration.
- Monitor supplier compliance with contractual obligations and address commercial performance issues.
- Support development and application of standard procurement contract processes and templates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Support
- Serve as the primary procurement business partner for assigned materials, suppliers, categories, and projects.
- Partner across Operations, Engineering, R&D, Quality, Finance, Demand Planning, and other functions to develop and execute sourcing solutions.
- Lead cross-functional sourcing and cost-improvement projects within assigned scope.
- Communicate procurement recommendations, supplier risks, commercial issues, and project status to stakeholders.
- Contribute to procurement performance metrics, business reviews, and improvement priorities.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead defined procurement continuous-improvement and operational-excellence initiatives.
- Analyze inventory trends, supplier metrics, sourcing performance, and procurement processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop or improve procurement reports, metrics, tools, and processes.
- Complete special projects and provide support to Procurement leadership as required.
How will you get here?
Education & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree required with minimum 6 years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain preferred
- Master's Degree with 4 years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain preferred
- Field of study: Supply Chain, Business Management, Engineering, or any related field preferred
- Professional procurement or supply chain certification, such as CPSM or APICS, preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in procurement and/or supply chain.
- Experience sourcing new materials and developing alternative sources to mitigate supply-chain risk.
- Direct materials and lab procurement experience preferred.
- Experience in planning, manufacturing, quality, engineering, or related disciplines desired.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers and delivering measurable results.
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and contracts preferred
- Experience working with international suppliers preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
- Understanding of multi-step strategic sourcing processes and strategies.
- Ability to independently lead sourcing, cost-savings, and supplier-improvement projects.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and commercial decision-making skills.
- Ability to evaluate total cost, supplier capability, supply risk, and market conditions.
- Experience working in an MRP environment and with ERP systems.
- ISO or equivalent quality-system and change-control experience, including FDA/cGMP environments, preferred.
- Strong cross-functional communication, project leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong customer-service orientation and sense of urgency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and applicable ERP platforms.
- Ability to travel up to 15% as needed.
