Job Purpose
The Buyer / Procurement Specialist keeps PCI's projects supplied with the right materials at the right time and the right price, while building vendor relationships that hold up under a tight schedule. The role owns purchasing, vendor management, and inventory cost visibility, and looks for ways to use modern tools, including AI-assisted approaches, to make purchasing and inventory administration faster and more accurate without losing PCI's relationship-first way of working with suppliers.

Purchasing and Sourcing
- Plan and purchase materials necessary to support successful execution of PCI's projects
- Support the quoting process via RFQs to vendors, working with the quoting team to source appropriate materials
- Review quotes to determine suppliers offering the best combination of quality and price
- Complete purchase orders per AS9100 requirements and PCI internal processes, ensuring quality requirements are understood and passed to vendors
Vendor and Supplier Relationships
- Build and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with existing and potential vendors
- Perform periodic analysis of vendor performance and work with QA via PCI's vendor approval process
- Resolve order issues, delays, and discrepancies directly with vendors while protecting the relationship
Inventory, Cost, and Budgeting
- Review inventory at regular intervals to ensure stock levels in PCI's systems are accurate and adequate
- Track project-related material costs and support cash flow visibility and project budgeting
- Track status of orders and resolve purchase order errors as required
Systems and Process Optimization
- Identify opportunities to use AI-assisted tools and process improvements to streamline purchasing and inventory administration
- Lead improvements in purchasing, inventory, and logistics processes
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records across PCI's systems
Required Skills, Abilities and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required; familiarity with ProShop ERP is an asset
- Comfort with AI-assisted tools and genuine interest in using them to improve purchasing and administrative workflows
- Strong communicator, comfortable building and maintaining vendor relationships at all levels
- Solid understanding of cash flow and project budgeting as they relate to purchasing decisions
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft suite
- Experience with AS9100 or ISO considered an asset
- Knowledge of, or keen interest to learn, composites materials as they relate to project requirements
- Awareness of and commitment to product safety, counterfeit parts prevention, ethical conduct, and personal contribution to product quality and safety in accordance with AS9100 Rev D
- Continuing education supported by PCI upon approval
Working Conditions
Other conditions include:
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime based on purchasing and project schedules
- Sit for long periods of time at a desk. Occasional use of hands to handle materials or samples during shop floor visits
- Occasional time in a dirty, dusty manufacturing environment when supporting receiving, inspection, or vendor issues on the shop floor (PPE provided)
Physical Requirements
Buyers / Procurement Specialists must have the following abilities:
- Sit for prolonged periods
- Occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds when handling samples or materials on the shop floor
