Job Description
ProspectBlue is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join our client's manufacturing finance team in Richmond, VA. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for the plant while serving as a strategic business partner to operations.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis, along with the ability to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and lead an accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with both plant leadership and corporate finance while playing a key role in driving operational and financial performance
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze division financial statements to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.
- Partner closely with plant operations to provide financial analysis and actionable insights that support business decisions and improve operational performance.
- Oversee inventory accounting and product costing, including maintaining standard costs within SAP.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory variances, and profitability trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance efficiencies, and strengthen internal controls.
- Support SOX compliance initiatives and help maintain a strong internal control environment.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison between the plant and corporate Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Tax teams.
- Lead or support finance-related projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Manage, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting and inventory accounting.
- Experience with SAP or another large ERP system.
- CPA designation preferred.
