About the Company
We are a well-established U.S. manufacturer with over 100 years of operational history, producing goods for a diverse industrial customer base. Our Effingham, IL facility operates with a lean, capable finance team focused on precision, accountability, and close collaboration with plant leadership. We are seeking an experienced Controller to own the accounting function at our manufacturing site.
Position Overview
The Controller will serve as the financial backbone of our manufacturing operation, owning the full accounting cycle, driving cost accuracy, and delivering timely reporting to leadership and corporate finance. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows manufacturing accounting inside and out and is equally comfortable at the general ledger and on the plant floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end close and prepare monthly financial statements
- Own the GL including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Manage A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and cash activity
- Lead inventory accounting including cycle counts, BOM validation, and variance analysis
- Own fixed assets, CapEx tracking, and depreciation schedules
- Prepare budget-to-actual and production cost/margin reporting for leadership
- Manage the annual audit process and serve as the primary external auditor contact
- Maintain internal controls and standard accounting procedures
- Handle state and local tax filings and compliance
- Partner with plant and operations leadership on cost drivers and production financials
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 7 to 10 years of accounting experience in manufacturing; cost accounting and standard costing required
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Hands-on experience with BOMs, production variances, and cycle counts
- ERP experience and strong Excel proficiency
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and on the plant floor
What We Offer
- $115,000 to $130,000 base salary + bonus eligibility, dependent on experience and qualifications
