Location: Chesapeake, Virginia (In-Office)
Pay: $38-39/hr
Job Type: Full-Time

Map Communications, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join our team in Chesapeake. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing the employee's total life cycle, including but not limited to onboarding, processing employment changes, benefit administration, processing payroll and offboarding. This is an in-office position where you will have a direct impact on our team's experience.

What You Will Do:

• Lead, train, mentor and support payroll team members.
• Lead payroll initiatives including system migrations and process improvements.
• Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
• Review and approve payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and according to applicable requirements.
• Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, system issues, tax concerns, and sensitive employee pay inquiries.
• Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax activities, including ADP tax filings and year-end W-2 processing.
• Conduct internal audits and reconciliations.
• Help shape payroll operations built around accurate pay, strong relationships, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2 years supervising a team.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll and applying federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
• Experience with ADP WFN or other HRIS systems.
• Proven ability to coach and lead others.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Optional but Desirable Experience:

• FPC/CPP certification (or currently in progress)
• Experience in benefits and leave administration
• Experience with Workers' Compensation administration
