Payroll Supervisor
Position Summary
The Payroll Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations across a multi-state workforce. This position provides hands-on payroll processing, supervises payroll staff, and delivers analytical insight to support payroll accuracy and efficiency. The role also partners with HRIS, HR, and IT to align payroll processes with system capabilities and reporting needs.

What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and coordinate payroll operations for approximately 2,700 employees across 30 states, including managing 12 pay groups on a bi-weekly schedule
- Supervise payroll staff, including assigning work, reviewing output, coaching, and supporting employee development and cross-training
- Review personnel records to ensure accuracy in new hires, pay rates, job changes, and other payroll-related updates
- Oversee payroll processing activities, including timecards, accruals, payroll calculations, and payroll control records
- Direct the accurate calculation of wages in alignment with company policies
- Review and approve payroll deductions while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax requirements, wage and hour laws, garnishments, and year-end processes such as W-2 reporting
- Partner with HRIS, HR, and IT to manage payroll configuration, reporting, and system enhancements
- Support audits, reconciliations, and controls to maintain payroll accuracy and integrity
- Analyze payroll data for accuracy before final processing
- Prepare payroll-related reports and provide insights to leadership
- Develop and implement process improvements and standard procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Monitor payroll operations and provide updates to leadership on performance and key metrics

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Workday
- Multi-state payroll experience, including knowledge of payroll tax and compliance requirements
- Experience with audits, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of three years of payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
