ABOUT THE ROLE (Remote)

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related activities for company employees. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll requirements while maintaining accurate records, resolving payroll issues, and providing responsive support to employees and management. The Payroll Specialist partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, and company leaders and handles confidential information with discretion. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities        

Requirements

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent required 

Preferred: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.  

Experience

Required: 3 to 5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience. Working knowledge of payroll practices, payroll taxes, garnishments, and wage and hour requirements. Experience using a computerized payroll and timekeeping system. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data reconciliation.  

Preferred:  Experience processing multi-state payroll. Experience with payroll platforms such as ADP, Paylocity, UKG, Workday, Paycom, or a comparable system. Experience supporting payroll-to-general-ledger reconciliations and payroll audits. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or interest in pursuing a payroll credential.
