Payroll Specialist

Overview

UIC Government Services (UICGS) is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll Team in Springfield, VA. This role is ideal for candidates with Deltek Time & Expense and Deltek Costpoint experience.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Payroll Manager under the daily direction of the Payroll Supervisor
• Maintain, collect, and process employee timesheets using Deltek Time & Expense
• Support payroll processing, including verifying payroll data, calculating payrolls, reviewing payroll reports, and initiating employee payments
• Respond to employee inquiries and perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, researching pay discrepancies, and reviewing tax agency notices
• Assist with responding to data requests from internal departments and government agencies
• Gain exposure to multiple payroll disciplines including payroll tax compliance, timekeeping, garnishments, audit support, and special projects
• Assist with reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to payroll
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent payroll experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll or accounting department
• Experience with Deltek Time & Expense and Deltek Costpoint is required; experience with ADP Smart Compliance is a plus
• Strong knowledge of multi state, multi subsidiary payroll processes, including employment taxes, year end reporting, and payroll tax compliance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook
• Union/DBA/SCA payroll experience preferred
• Highly detail oriented, organized, and capable of problem solving and shifting priorities as needed
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time

There are currently no security clearance requirements for this position, however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
