By maintaining exceptional accuracy in compensation processing and benefits administration, this position protects the company from regulatory exposure and financial penalties while ensuring uninterrupted operations. The role serves as a critical control point between human resources systems and financial compliance, preventing costly errors that could impact both employee retention and audit readiness. Through proactive coordination and meticulous attention to regulatory requirements, this position enables the organization to meet stringent industry standards while maintaining the trust and satisfaction of the workforce that drives production excellence. WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE
While the ways that you fulfill these responsibilities will likely evolve, your core responsibilities are:
Process timesheet data accurately by validating hours worked, leave taken, and attendance records, ensuring employees are compensated correctly for time worked.
On average this should be about 20% of your time. Among other things this means we expect you to:
- Identify and investigate anomalies in reported hours or attendance patterns.
- Apply appropriate pay codes for different types of leave and premium pay situations.
- Communicate with supervisors to clarify missing or inconsistent time entries.
- Review timesheet submissions for completeness and supervisor approval before processing.
Coordinate with Human Resources on new hire setup, terminations, and employee status changes, ensuring seamless payroll transitions that prevent payment errors and maintain data integrity.
On average this should be about 20% of your time. Among other things this means we expect you to:
- Process final paychecks in accordance with termination dates and applicable state regulations.
- Update payroll system records to reflect changes in compensation, job title, or department assignment.
- Verify that all required tax forms and direct deposit authorizations are received before first paycheck.
- Conduct regular data audits with HR to ensure consistency between personnel and payroll systems.
Administer benefits deductions and garnishments correctly, ensuring proper coordination with benefits providers and legal entities that protects both employee interests and company obligations.
On average this should be about 20% of your time. Among other things this means we expect you to:
- Verify deduction amounts against court orders before processing.
- Reconcile benefit deduction totals with carrier invoices to identify variances.
- Track deduction changes resulting from qualifying life events or status modifications, working with benefits administrators to ensure accurate implementation.
Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees, ensuring correct calculation of wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions that maintain employee trust and organizational compliance.
On average this should be about 20% of your time. Among other things this means we expect you to:
- Complete payroll processing within designated cut-off times to meet direct deposit schedules.
- Document and resolve discrepancies identified during payroll validation procedures.
- Verify all payroll inputs against source documentation before finalizing each pay cycle.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries with clarity and professionalism, resolving questions about compensation, deductions, and tax matters that enhance employee satisfaction and reduce confusion.
On average this should be about 20% of your time. Among other things this means we expect you to:
- Research and resolve discrepancies reported by employees within established service level agreements.
- Document all inquiry details and resolutions for audit purposes.
- Escalate complex compensation issues to appropriate internal and external resources when necessary.
- Follow up with employees to confirm their concerns have been fully addressed.

Minimum Qualifications For The Role:
- An associate degree in accounting, finance, or other related field of study or equivalent work experience.
- The ability to read, write, and speak English.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll processing.
Physical, Sensory, Cognitive & Neurological Demands:
- Regularly sits for extended periods while working at a computer, and frequently uses hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, calculator, phone, and other standard office equipment.
- Occasionally stands, walks, bends, and reaches, and may lift and carry items up to 15–20 pounds, such as file boxes or supplies.
- Requires close visual acuity to review detailed numerical data, spreadsheets, and reports on screen and on paper for extended periods.
- Requires the ability to hear and communicate clearly in person, by phone, and through virtual meetings in a standard office environment.
- Requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and numerical reasoning to process payroll, calculate wages and deductions, and apply federal, state, and local regulations.
- Must sustain concentration, manage frequent interruptions, and meet fixed recurring deadlines such as payroll cutoffs, tax filings, and year-end processing.
- Requires sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential employee information, and problem-solving skills to research and resolve pay discrepancies.
