What You’ll Be Doing: Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Operations, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for executing the full payroll lifecycle, ensuring team members are compensated accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable legislation. This role liaises between Human Resources, Finance and Operations to support payroll integrity and legislative adherence.
- Process full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly team members across multiple pay groups and provinces, ensuring data is accurate, verified and aligned to collective agreements, where applicable.
- Validate and input payroll data across various systems (Ultipro, ADP, UTA, Comvida, Softworks) including:
- Hours worked, overtime, shift premiums, etc.
- Bonuses, commissions, retroactive payments.
- Leaves (vacation, sick, maternity/parental, unpaid, etc).
- Submit time batches for processing on HRIS, Comvida Scheduling, ADP systems
- Create load files and batches to in-house HRIS system as required for payroll processing
- Execute off-cycle and manual payments as required.
- Maintain and update payroll records including new hires, transfers, employment changes and terminations.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure data integrity across HRIS and Scheduling systems.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related filings and reports.
- Responsible for processing payroll updates on multiple systems (Ultipro, ADP, UTA, Comvida, Softworks)
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant legislative changes to ensure legislative compliance: ESA, CRA, Service Canada, collective agreements, organization policies.
Who you are:
- Post Secondary Education in Human Resources, Business, Finance or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Payroll Operations, with a strong customer service focus.
- Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is required.
- Strong organization skills with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced environment, while upholding attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel – Vlook Up, Pivot Table, IF Formulas, SUMIF

- Salary Range: $64,201 - $80,252 **Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity**
