Payroll Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Vista System Management: Oversee the full-cycle payroll process within Trimble Vista, including Time Management (TM) and Payroll (PR) modules.
• Labor Distribution & Job Costing: Ensure all labor hours are correctly allocated to specific jobs, phases, and cost codes to maintain accurate project reporting.
• Union & Prevailing Wage Compliance: Manage complex union remittances, fringe benefits, and multi-tier wage scales. Oversee the generation of Certified Payroll Reports (WH-347) for public works projects.
• Tax & Regulatory Oversight: Handle multi-state payroll tax filings, W-2 year-end processing, and stay current on federal/state labor laws and EEO reporting.
• Integration & Optimization: Collaborate with IT and Accounting to optimize Vista workflows, integrate field time-tracking apps (like Field Management), and troubleshoot system glitches.
• Audit Support: Lead internal and external audits, including workers' comp audits and union benefit audits.

Required Qualifications

• Software Expertise: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience using Vista by Trimble (formerly Viewpoint). This is a non-negotiable requirement.
• Construction Experience: 5+ years in construction payroll, with a deep understanding of Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage requirements.
• Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of General Ledger (GL) entries and how payroll impacts the balance sheet.
• Problem-Solving: A "find a way" attitude toward reconciling data discrepancies and system integration hurdles.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Crystal Reports or Vista SSRS for custom payroll reporting.
• Experience with integrated field time-capture tools (e.g., Trimble Field Management, HeavyJob, or ExakTime).
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
