Job Overview
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processes. The Payroll Manager plays a key role in optimizing payroll operations, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring a positive employee experience.
Roles & Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain and improve payroll systems, reports, and integrations by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance data integrity.
- Serve as the internal Workday Payroll SME, driving best practices in configuration, reporting, data integrity, and payroll processes.
- Use data analytics to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and support decisions with clear, actionable insights.
- Communicate with all levels of the organization and develop partnerships in order to gain a better understanding of the operational environment and how best to support the front line and our customers.
- Ensure payroll records are properly maintained, including tax documents, wage adjustments, garnishments, and employee status changes.
- Lead or support audits, compliance reporting, and reconciliations with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance payroll processes for efficiency, scalability, and employee experience.
- Take initiative in identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and driving process improvements without waiting for direction.
- Utilize available tools, systems, and non-traditional resources to develop creative and comprehensive payroll solutions.
- Stay current on payroll regulations and Workday feature releases to ensure optimal system usage and legal compliance.

Qualification

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive payroll experience, with 2+ years managing payroll within Workday.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth understanding of Workday Payroll, including configuration, business processes, audits, reporting, and compliance.
Proven analytical mindset with strong Excel and data analysis skills.
Strong initiative-taker with the ability to identify and address needs without direction.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to translate technical payroll information into clear business terms.
Passion for continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and delivering value-added services.
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
Experience with payroll operations for hourly, exempt, and frontline workforce populations.
Familiarity with other Workday modules such as Time Tracking, Absence, and Benefits.
Preferred Bilingual in Spanish
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.
