Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the temporary (up to 18 months), full-time position of Payroll Administrator in Finance & Asset Management.

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the delivery of payroll services to all HRM employees, including Associations, Boards and Commissions. It is the responsibility of this role to ensure the timely and accurate submission and processing of bi-weekly payroll for 5000+ employees within a diverse environment, while working within extremely tight deadlines. The payroll administrator proactively identifies system, payroll and client issues, helps provide and implement effective solutions. In addition, providing support and guidance to all payroll employees and being a mentor to the junior payroll administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Related business training from a recognized educational institution plus three (3) years related experience in payroll administration.
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Associations Level I course within the first six (6) months of employment is required. Completion of Level I, II or II and/or certification in any of the above would be considered definite assets.

Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note: Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Temporary (up to 18 months), full-time.
HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; overtime hours may be required. Flex options to work outside of these hours and hybrid may be available.
SALARY: Level 7, $37.22 per hour as per NSGEU Local 222 Collective Agreement.
WORK LOCATION: 40 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth, NS.
