Job Description
Our client is a leading industry association in Nova Scotia supporting the growth of member organizations through advocacy, workforce development, and industry-building initiatives.
They are currently seeking a Part-time Controller to provide both high-level oversight and hands-on support for day-to-day accounting. The successful candidate thrives in a purpose-driven environment and brings a detail-oriented, proactive approach to their work.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Full-cycle accounting, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial planning
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions and process improvements
- Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors
- Implement and maintain internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency
Skills & Attributes for Success:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or other relevant program or equivalent training and experience
- CPA designation is preferred
- 5+ years of progressive hands-on accounting experience
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Integrity-driven, with a commitment to transparency and accountability
- Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
