Part-time Controller

Job Description

Our client is a leading industry association in Nova Scotia supporting the growth of member organizations through advocacy, workforce development, and industry-building initiatives. 
They are currently seeking a Part-time Controller to provide both high-level oversight and hands-on support for day-to-day accounting. The successful candidate thrives in a purpose-driven environment and brings a detail-oriented, proactive approach to their work.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Full-cycle accounting, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial planning
• Provide financial insights to support business decisions and process improvements
• Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors
• Implement and maintain internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency

Skills & Attributes for Success:

• Post-secondary education in accounting or other relevant program or equivalent training and experience
• CPA designation is preferred
• 5+ years of progressive hands-on accounting experience
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
• Integrity-driven, with a commitment to transparency and accountability
• Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
