Position summary: The Medicaid and Insurance Billing Specialist manages client billing, insurance claims, and Medicaid reimbursements. This role ensures accurate processing of medical and dental bills, verification of coverage, and timely submission of claims and invoices. The position also supports provider credentialing, payment posting, and related business office functions.
Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
4-5 years of previous accounting and medical billing experience.
Essential job functions:
Process Insurance and Medicaid Claims: Review, code, and file Mental Health claims; ensure accuracy and timely submission for reimbursement.
Verify Coverage and Eligibility: Confirm Medicaid and private insurance coverage for clients, contact families or agencies for missing information, and maintain updated payer records.
Billing and Invoicing: Prepare and submit invoices to state agencies, generate client statements, and track refunds or adjustments as needed.
Payment Posting and Account Reconciliation: Record and post payments in the client database, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end close processes.
Provider Enrollment and Credentialing: Maintain up-to-date provider agreements, credential new employees, and ensure compliance with Medicaid and insurance requirements.
Database and Reporting Management: Maintain accurate client and payer data, produce required reports, and serve as a super user for the client billing system.
Collaboration and Communication: Work with insurance and Medicaid companies, parents, and internal departments to resolve billing issues and ensure consistent communication.
Administrative and Office Support: Provide backup support for purchasing, cashiering, and mail distribution, contributing to efficient business office operations.
Work Schedule: This position requires, on average, 40 hours per week. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required.
Environment & Physical Demands: The employee in this role will work in an office setting. The employee must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, and use fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for typing, writing, filing, data entry, handling paperwork and operating standard office equipment.
