Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our warehouse operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through daily cycle counts, researching inventory discrepancies, and supporting shipping and receiving functions. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, warehouse experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Control:
- Conduct daily cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy within warehouse systems.
- Research and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory counts and system records.
- Plan, organize, and verify inbound deliveries, including physical counts and Bill of Lading (BOL) discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are stored properly to maximize space utilization and maintain safety compliance.
- Oversee inventory rotation activities as needed.
- Maintain an organized and accessible inventory and solution center for staff and visitors.
Shipping & Receiving:
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing identifying information, counts, weights, and measurements against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and other records.
- Unpack and inspect incoming shipments, documenting shortages or damages and coordinating with carriers to resolve issues.
- Route materials and products to the appropriate departments.
- Prepare outgoing shipments to ensure they meet customer and company specifications.
- Affix shipping labels, calculate shipping charges, and process required documentation.
- Select appropriate domestic and international carriers and complete shipping paperwork.
- Track shipments and provide status updates as needed.
- Assist with packaging products using protective materials and space fillers.
- May provide direction to team members regarding shipping and receiving activities.
Additional Duties:
- Lift and move materials and packages as required.
- Utilize computer systems, email, and internet resources to support daily operations.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations related to inventory and shipping activities.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn warehouse management systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred:
- 2+ years of inventory control experience.
- 2+ years of warehouse and/or manufacturing experience.
- Experience operating forklifts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Follow all established safety procedures and guidelines.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
