This engagement is ideal for a strong operator who can drive accurate results under tight timelines, support and guide accountants through change, and bring confidence to leadership ahead of key deliverables like quarter-end and board reporting. You’ll also contribute across revenue recognition, treasury/cash forecasting, and payroll-related analytics while the organization advances finance systems and process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as corporate controller for the parent company’s Canadian operations
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Lead and execute the monthly close process (including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries)
- Drive the quarter-end close and support board reporting
- Prepare a significant portion of financial statement deliverables in a manual, high-effort close process
- Own revenue recognition using percentage of completion methods, including supporting accounting research and related entries
- Run consolidations and deliver a first pass variance analysis
- Perform and/or review key reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in a spreadsheet-driven environment
- Provide accounting research and clearly document/communicate conclusions and impacts
- Own treasury activities, including:
- 13-week cash forecasts
- 12-month rolling cash forecasts
- AR/AP analysis and assessment of payment terms
- Support payroll analytics and payroll accrual calculations, partnering with payroll/finance stakeholders
- Manage and support accountants through a period of transition and changing workload
What You Bring
- Strong accounting foundation; public accounting / PE / sponsor-backed experience is desirable
- Demonstrated experience with consolidations
- Proven expertise in:
- Revenue recognition (completed contract / percentage of completion)
- Treasury and cash forecasting
- Payroll and labor accrual processes
- Comfortable being hands-on with:
- Journal entries
- Accounting research
- Preparing and reviewing reconciliations
- High attention to detail and strong reconciliation discipline, especially in manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes
- Experience working with ERP systems, large data extracts, and multi-system environments
- Prior interim/controller consulting engagements considered an asset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with leadership and explain technical accounting implications clearly
