The Role:

As we continue to transform the practice of medicine, the next chapter of Sanofi’s Take the Lead strategy will require a focus on delivering transformation and simplification of our core processes, optimizing resource allocation and deployment to fuel business growth and investment in science.

To facilitate this transformation, a new Business Operations Business Unit is being established, bringing together existing business service activities, and driving further expansion of centralized services at scale into a global unit, with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity.

This new Business Unit will enable the delivery of best-in-class business support capabilities across the organization, incorporating and engaging disparate teams from across areas such as R&D, M&S, the Corporate Functions and GBUs into new global Service Delivery Towers with initial services spanning Commercial, Finance, Procurement and People & Culture.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Head of Business Operations, the Global Head of Procurement Services plays a critical role in the development, execution and transformation of both Sanofi’s Business Operations and Procurement Strategies.

As Head of Procurement Services, the incumbent will partner closely with the Head of Business Operations and the Chief Procurement Officer and his leadership to lead a team of shared service and procurement professionals focused on driving the implementation of simple, standard and efficient procurement services, unlocking value and enhancing productivity through innovation, scale and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the Chief Procurement Officer and Procurement Leadership team to: (a) develop a structured and well-defined enterprise Procurement strategy; (b) define and embed to-be agreed target operating model and governance framework, including roles, responsibilities, and ownership accountabilities; and (c) establish a standard set of functional-level performance metrics and service-line specific KPIs to measure progress and value delivery.

• Lead Procurement Services organization of ~600-650 Sanofians and oversee efforts of strategic BPO partner responsible for the delivery and execution of Sanofi’s Business Operations and Procurement strategy; grow operational footprint in-line with broader GBO and Hub operating model, leveraging existing Hub locations in Bogota, Budapest, Hyderabad and Kuala Lumpur

• Productivity Initiatives – develop and run formal program and process for identifying enterprise-wide savings opportunities and prospective new services leveraging advanced analytics, process mining and other innovative techniques; partner with GBO Business Partnership & Transformation lead to transition into implementation then drive and track value and benefits delivery.

• Source to Pay – lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing execution of enterprise Source to Pay transformation, driving best-in-class simplification of global end-to-end process excellence in partnership with Finance and Procurement, including sourcing lifecycle management, contracting, vendor master data management, indirect purchasing, invoice reception and processing, payments, travel and expense management, tail spend management and supplier relationship management.

• Digital, AI and Automation – define and lead the next phase of Procurement Services evolution, driving the digitalization and agentification of transactional and operational processes through AI, intelligent automation and emerging technologies; partner with Digital and GBO Transformation teams to design, deploy and scale AI-enabled solutions across Source to Pay, ensuring robust governance, control and measurable value delivery.

• Contract and Compliance Management – establish a simple and standard global end-to-end contract life cycle management process for 3rd party contracts; govern and oversee supplier performance through the transition and ongoing growth of supplier contract compliance and audit program.

• Risk Management – Partner with Head of Procurement Risk Management and Supplier Diversity to transform the delivery and execution of existing third-party risk management, sustainability, and supplier diversity operations to ensure process efficiency and compliance with corporate standards and external regulations.

• Analytics and Insights – Design, develop and execute advanced analytics strategy for GBO and Procurement, including spend analytics and category reporting, Procurement performance tracking and GBO performance monitoring and reporting.

• Establish and maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships with GBU, R&D, M&S and Corporate Functions Executive Committee members, their teams and the 2nd line of defense (IC&P, E&BI) to drive simplification and standardization and strengthen the control environment across the organization.

• Create an organization of change agents through the management and development of Global Business Operations staff and functions BPO provider – provide open, honest, and valuable feedback on the performance of team members and BPO in support of individual and functional-level goals and objectives.

• Innovate, drive and support the continuous improvement of Business Operations and Procurement Services processes and procedures through the development and adoption of a standard global process ownership and global process lead framework.

• Demonstrate and maintain domain expertise, as well as working knowledge of Pharma/Biotech industry, staying current on developments in Business Operations, Shared Services and Procurement.

About you

Required

• Degree in Business Studies, Accounting, Finance, or other business discipline·      
• 15+ of experience in complex, global transformations, strategy, optimization, digitalization and/or consulting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective collaborator with strong trust-building and influencing skills.  
• Ability to think strategically, innovate, and execute a plan.  
• Results-oriented with strong analytics skills; ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.   
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.

Preferred

• MBA or other advanced degree.     
• Experience in healthcare and/or life-science industry.      
• Experience in establishing and developing shared service capabilities and services.     
• Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.     
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and intellectual curiosity.      
• Developed business partnering, collaboration, and interpersonal skills required.      
• Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence senior level stakeholders.      
• Ability to work transversally and within a highly matrixed environment. 
• Global or international experience and ability to work with a diverse team.
