Position Summary
Reporting to Fortive’s Chief Accounting Officer, the FP&A Senior Director will lead the enterprise-wide Financial Planning & Analysis function and serve as a trusted finance partner to executive leadership and corporate functional leaders.
This leader will own the planning, forecasting, analysis, and management reporting cadence for Fortive’s corporate finance organization, translating complex financial and operational data into clear insights, practical recommendations, and disciplined execution. Additionally, this role requires strong system architecture comprehension, and must manage the accounting and FP&A toolset to facilitate increasingly complex modeling environment. The role requires strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead effectively across operating companies and corporate functions in a highly matrixed environment.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, hands-on finance leader who can establish priorities, build scalable processes, drive accountability, and influence decisions at the highest levels of the organization. As a high-potential member of the Corporate Finance team, this individual may have opportunities to take on expanded leadership responsibilities within Fortive over time.
Key Responsibilities Enterprise planning and performance management- Lead the annual budget, periodic forecast, and multi-year strategic planning processes across Fortive.
- Maintain FTV internal analyst model, balancing risks seen and communicated in Opco operating plans with externally stated shareholder commitments.
- Own the corporate FP&A operating rhythm, including monthly and quarterly close support, performance reviews, forecast updates, and executive reporting.
- Partner with the CAO and CFO to track performance against financial targets, identify risks and opportunities, and drive timely management action.
- Oversee all items of FP&A change management, reporting productivity enhancements, changes to planning and forecasting cadences, etc.
- Ownership and subject matter expertise of key annual items such as incentive compensation program design and payout, Free Cash Flow analysis, share buyback program impact, and impact of foreign currency fluctuations.
- Develop high-quality financial analysis that supports business decisions, resource and capital allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and cost-structure management.
- Prepare clear, concise management reporting and executive-ready presentations for the CAO, CFO, C-suite leaders, and Board of Directors.
- Perform deep-dive modeling and scenario analysis to evaluate business performance, investment priorities, margin drivers, and strategic alternatives.
- Analyze performance across geographies, foreign exchange, operating companies, price, customer profitability, SG&A, risks, opportunities, and other key value drivers.
- Partner with corporate functional leaders to manage the Corporate G&A budget, improve forecast accuracy, and strengthen accountability for spend decisions.
- Partner closely with Investor Relations, providing insight, guidance, and recommendations around publicly shared Fortive metrics and targets.
- Work with the global leadership team to develop multi-year plans, prioritize resources, and track the investments and initiatives required to achieve long-term targets.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and decision support for Corporate Finance, SEC Reporting, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, and other stakeholder groups.
- Lead and support selected M&A, acquisition, divestiture, integration, and transformation activities as needed.
- Continuously improve finance processes, planning standards, management reporting, and analytical capabilities across the Corporate Finance organization.
- Oversee the corporate financial planning and reporting platform, including OneStream, and lead system enhancements, process changes, and data-quality improvements.
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing FP&A team with a strong service orientation, analytical discipline, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Promote the use of FBS, Lean, and problem-solving tools to simplify work, improve cycle times, and increase the impact of corporate FP&A.
The ideal candidate will bring the financial depth, leadership maturity, and communication strength required to operate as a credible partner to senior executives in a complex, global organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, or related experience, ideally in a global, multi-company environment.
- Strong financial acumen, critical thinking, and ability to connect operational drivers to financial outcomes.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, analysis, and management reporting skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience supporting international subsidiaries, business partners, and matrixed leadership teams.
- Working knowledge of ERP, consolidation, and reporting systems; OneStream experience preferred.
- Demonstrated record of process improvement and complex problem solving, including experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Ability to balance a business-partner mindset with a firm commitment to ethics, compliance, GAAP, and strong financial controls.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-finance audiences.
