About the Role

This role supports two integral areas of our client—food safety and bookkeeping. For the Food Safety Practitioner portion of this role, the practitioner implements and maintains safe food practices per the SQF (Safe Quality Food) Food Safety Code. The annual internal and external food safety audits are planned, coordinated, and overseen by the Food Safety Practitioner. For the bookkeeping portion of this role, the bookkeeper maintains accurate financial records, assists with accounts payable/receivable, and supports payroll and tax compliance. This position will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy as well as meeting rigorous food safety standards. This role reports directly to the Mill Manager and Controller.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety Practitioner

● Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of food safety program.

● Maintain all required food safety records and documentation, monitor all aspects of the facility’s food safety program, and ensure established food safety procedures and requirements are consistently followed.

● Involve our employees to establish and maintain food safety culture.

● Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Bookkeeping

● Maintain accurate financial records for audits and financial reviews.

● Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.

● Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and financial best practices.

● Follow company food safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

● Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills

● Proven experience as a food safety coordinator, bookkeeper, accounting clerk, or similar role.

● Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality control procedures.

● Previous experience in food production, machine operation, or warehouse preferred.

● Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

● Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

● Familiarity with ERP software.

● Proficiency with QuickBooks or other accounting software.

● Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

● Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

● Familiarity with payroll processing and tax compliance is a plus.

● Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50lbs) and stand for extended periods.
