Position Summary:
We are a relationship-driven community bank seeking a technically skilled professional for an Accounting and Data Analyst / Process Designer role. This role will support the Senior Controller and accounting department by performing data and financial analysis, preparing and reviewing financial reports, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing backup support for key accounting functions. Additionally, this position will support the Senior Controller in the design and implementation of analytical tools and reporting functionality. This position combines financial reporting, data analytics, and accounting responsibilities, with the hands-on design and implementation of tools to automate manual processes and increase efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analytics and Process Improvement
· Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, exceptions, risks, and opportunities.
· Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools to support management decision-making.
· Assist with automating manual processes and improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
· Partner with other departments to gather information, resolve issues, and support financial analysis and reporting needs.
Financial Reporting
· Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
· Prepare financial analyses and reporting for management, senior leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors.
· Research and analyze significant variances, trends, and financial results.
· Assist with regulatory and external financial reporting, including Call Report preparation and supporting documentation.
· Support the preparation of audit schedules, financial statement disclosures, and other information requested by internal and external auditors.
· Help ensure financial reports are accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with applicable accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Accounting and Reconciliation
· Perform and review general ledger account reconciliations and investigate and resolve outstanding differences.
· Provide backup support for core accounting functions, including accounts payable, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and other daily or monthly accounting activities.
· Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
· Monitor accounting activity for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
· Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and internal controls.
Other Responsibilities
· Maintain appropriate documentation and supporting records for accounting transactions and financial reports.
· Assist with special projects and other Finance department responsibilities as assigned.
· Serve as a cross-functional resource and backup for key accounting and financial reporting processes.
RequirementsQualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
· Three to five years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis experience preferred, preferably within a financial institution.
· Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial institution accounting and reporting preferred.
· Experience with general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, financial statement preparation, and regulatory reporting.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
· Experience in the design, implementation and use of analytical tools and for the analysis of data from multiple sources (i.e. data warehouse or similar) is preferred.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
· Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet established deadlines.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Working Conditions
· Requires reasonable use of hands and fingers.
· Requires corrected hearing in normal range for effective communication via telephone.
· May be required to sit for lengthy periods of time.
· May occasionally lift 25 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
