Job Title: Financial Analyst Agency: Department of Education Job Requisition ID: JR0000005644 Shift: Not Applicable (United States of America) Compensation Details: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE Job Description: The Georgia Department of Education is hiring a Financial Analysis that will provide financial, procurement, and administrative support to the State Schools Outreach program. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of consultant expenses, invoices, and purchasing transactions while maintaining accurate vendor and financial records, including state funds and cash flow information. The position also supports the day-to-day operations of the Budget and Finance function and works closely with the State Schools Budget and Finance Manager to ensure all financial activities comply with established fiscal policies, procedures, and requirements of the Georgia Department of Education and the State Office of Accounting. This position will report to the State Schools Budget and Finance Mgr. and follow fiscal processes and procedures set by the GaDOE and State Office of Accounting. Job Responsibilities Process consultant expense forms and ensure required documentation and approvals are completed for timely payment. Perform accounts payable functions, including reviewing and processing receipts, invoices, and payment requests. Create and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures. Record, monitor, and track financial transactions, including purchase requests, purchase orders, expenses, invoices, and payments. Create, update, and maintain vendor profiles and other related financial information to ensure accurate and complete records. Monitor and support cash management activities, including tracking the Outreach Program's cash flow and financial transactions. Reconcile and maintain financial records and documentation as needed. Prepare, maintain, and distribute financial reports and other budget and finance-related reports. Perform data entry, database maintenance, filing, and general office duties related to financial and administrative operations. Maintain organized and accurate electronic and paper financial records in accordance with organizational policies. Provide administrative and financial support to the Budget and Finance Manager and other staff as needed. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Budget and Finance Manager and Outreach Director. Preferred Qualifications Experience in accounts payable, procurement, bookkeeping, finance, or a related administrative role. Experience with procurement processes, purchase orders, and vendor management. Experience preparing financial reports and monitoring budgets or cash flow. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing financial transactions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience working with financial or database systems. Previous experience in a nonprofit, government, education, or community-based organization Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
