OVERVIEW
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Canadian Retail Banking line of business by managing portfolios related to personal deposits and retail lending. This position involves collaborating with senior management and legal entity experts to contribute to day-to-day deliverables, project support, and overall portfolio management, with a significant focus on a transformation initiative that includes migrating financial processes and models to Anaplan.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn, demonstrating a proactive approach to new challenges. They will work closely with a dynamic team, gaining exposure across key finance functions such as FP&A, LFO, and CFO, while contributing to high-profile transformation initiatives that offer opportunities for professional growth and visibility.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Contract Length: 12 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to FTE
Hours: 9 AM - 5 PM, with overtime requirements as necessary
Pay: T4 $44/h //IC: $50/h
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with senior management to understand and implement updates to financial models.
- Perform maintenance and updates of financial and data models to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Execute monthly roll-overs, ensuring accurate data ingestion and alignment with business requirements.
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy while identifying trends and variances.
- Prepare and update financial presentations for business reviews, utilizing tools such as PowerPoint.
- Collect and process data to assist with inquiries from various business groups.
- Perform day-to-day investigations and provide timely support to stakeholders.
- Generate reports for distribution to different business units based on their needs.
- Retrieve information from existing models and databases to fulfill requests efficiently.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by taking on new challenges and supporting ad hoc projects.
- Work with the Anaplan team to translate existing financial processes into a cloud-based solution.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a finance-related discipline.
- Experience in financial modeling and data analysis.
- High proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel (including Pivot tables and VLookups).
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contribute innovative ideas.
- Versatile and adaptive, capable of contributing to tasks beyond the primary portfolio.
- Positive attitude with a strong eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
- Ability to minimize ramp-up time and be ready to start on projects immediately.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in PowerBI or SQL is considered a plus.
PREFERRED
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a financial analyst role.
