NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a remarkable organization to identify a Director of Payroll in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This role is fully remote for candidates located within the DFW area. You will oversee multi-state payroll operations, payroll compliance, system implementations, and team leadership for a growing organization with a strong nationwide presence.
This position is ideal for a payroll manager who is ready to step into a director-level role, enjoys developing teams, driving process improvements, and balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on operational leadership.
Required:
• Strong experience leading multi-state payroll operations, including California payroll and labor law compliance
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce; UKG experience is highly preferred
• Proven leadership experience managing payroll managers and payroll specialists
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, garnishments, and payroll tax compliance
• Experience with payroll operations, timekeeping systems, process improvements, and payroll system implementations
Preferred:
• CPP or FPC certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field
• Experience leading enterprise payroll or HRIS implementations
• Advanced Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis
• Collaborative leadership style with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and supporting remote teams
