Director, Financial Planning & Analysis
The Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing, technology-driven advanced manufacturing organization serving highly engineered and mission-critical end markets. With expanding U.S. and international operations, the company is investing in the financial infrastructure, systems, and leadership needed to support its next stage of growth.
We are seeking a Manager / Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to report directly to the CFO and build the company's FP&A function.
This is a true build role not a maintain role. This individual will establish the planning and forecasting processes, financial models, KPI framework, management reporting, and analytical capabilities that will help guide executive decision-making.
The role offers significant exposure to the CFO, executive leadership, board and investors, while supporting organic growth, strategic investments, international operations, and M&A.
Key Responsibilities
-
Build and own the company's FP&A function, including annual planning, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, and management reporting.
-
Develop sophisticated driver-based financial models across the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
-
Establish company-wide KPIs and reporting to provide leadership with actionable insights into business performance.
-
Lead budget-to-actual and variance analysis, translating financial results into clear business drivers and recommendations.
-
Partner with Accounting following each close to ensure accurate, timely, and decision-useful reporting.
-
Serve as a strategic finance partner to Operations, Commercial, R&D, and other functional leaders.
-
Analyze product and program profitability, gross margin, COGS, capacity, pricing, and unit economics within a manufacturing environment.
-
Lead capital planning and develop financial business cases for significant investments.
-
Support multi-entity and international planning, reporting, and consolidation.
-
Build and maintain long-range financial models supporting strategic planning, scenario analysis, liquidity, and growth initiatives.
-
Support M&A, including acquisition modeling, financial diligence, synergy analysis, and post-close integration.
-
Prepare financial analysis, KPI reporting, and presentations for executive leadership, the board, and investors.
-
Evaluate and implement FP&A, reporting, and BI tools as the organization scales.
-
Build and develop the FP&A team over time.
Qualifications
-
6+ years of progressive experience across FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or related disciplines, including operating-company FP&A experience.
-
Director-level candidates will typically bring 10+ years of experience and previous leadership or team management experience.
-
Demonstrated experience building or significantly transforming an FP&A, planning, or forecasting function.
-
Advanced financial modeling skills, including driver-based three-statement modeling, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and long-range planning.
-
Strong accounting foundation with the ability to connect GAAP financial results to management reporting and business performance.
-
Experience within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, hardware, engineered products, or advanced materials strongly preferred.
-
Strong understanding of manufacturing financial drivers, including COGS, inventory, standard costing, capacity utilization, and gross margin.
-
Multi-entity and multi-currency experience; international exposure strongly preferred.
-
Experience within a high-growth, venture-backed, private equity-backed, or similarly dynamic environment highly desirable.
-
M&A modeling, diligence, or integration experience is a strong plus.
-
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with ERP, planning, and BI/reporting platforms.
-
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA welcomed but not required.
-
Strong executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear business recommendations.
