Summary:
The Director of Finance & Accounting is a key member of the leadership team responsible for elevating the company’s financial planning, reporting, and accounting capabilities. This role oversees FP&A, financial reporting, audit, and accounting operations while driving modernization, process improvement, and technology adoption across the finance organization.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong operational instincts—someone who can partner with Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver insights, strengthen controls, and support profitable growth. This leader will develop high‑performing teams, enhance financial rigor, and ensure the company remains future‑ready.
Key Responsibilities
-Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the company’s FP&A function, including reporting, forecasting, and analytics.
- Own the annual budget cycle, long‑range planning, and monthly budget‑to‑actual variance analysis.
- Partner closely with Sales and Operations leadership to provide financial insights, scenario modeling, and decision support.
- Lead financial analysis for strategic initiatives, capital investments, and business cases.
- Produce the internal financial reporting package and support divisional financial reporting initiatives.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, debt modeling, and liquidity planning.
- Develop FP&A talent and advance the company’s analytics and business intelligence capabilities.
-Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Provide senior leadership for the accounting department including development of staff, ensuring clear career paths and a strong internal talent pipeline.
- Lead technology implementations and process improvement initiatives to modernize accounting operations and reduce administrative costs.
- Ensure the accounting department is “future‑ready” through automation, workflow optimization, and adoption of best‑in‑class tools.
- Serve as senior leader of the financial statement audit and liaison with external auditors.
- Oversee Controller’s month‑end close, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with IFRS.
- Provide senior level review of monthly financial statements and certain journal entries and reconciliations.
- Oversee income tax provisions, estimates, and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Serve as backup for treasury and accounting management functions to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience leading FP&A and accounting teams.
- Proven ability to modernize processes, implement technology, and drive operational efficiency.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with ERP upgrades, BI tools
- Ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional leaders in a fast‑paced, operationally intensive environment.
Preferred
- CMA, CPA and/or MBA.
- Experience in heavy equipment, construction, distribution, or other asset‑intensive industries.
- Experience with finance automation platforms.
- Background managing financial statement and other audits.
