Director of Accounting Operations

Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a Director of Accounting Operations position in the Financial Services office.  Performs complex, professional accounting duties in supervising payroll and accounts payable functions at the college. Responsible for external reporting to various entities. Directly supervises four employees and indirectly supervises the individual college departments submitting payroll and accounts payable information. This position requires the ability to direct the operation of two critical disbursement functions. This role will provide managerial activities with respect to the interaction of accounting systems and procedures throughout the institution while directly supervising the general ledger, accounts payable function, travel and related expense reimbursements, and other accounting operational matters within the Financial Services Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

A CPA is preferred. A master’s degree in accounting, finance or any business related field is an eligible substitute for CPA. Experience with Ellucian Banner is highly desired. A broader experience in fund accounting, investment/endowment accounting, cost accounting, grant accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital asset management and taxes is desirable.
