What you'll be doing...
Accounting Director – Wireless Promotions, Inventory, Reseller and Roaming Revenue and Cost
This position is responsible for the delivery of Wireless revenue within the Accounting Operations organization. Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting, this position has oversight and responsibility for assigned accounting operations, including the related financial closes, analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develops accounting organizational strategies for areas of responsibility by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction and establishes functional objectives in line with Accounting and Verizon objectives.
- Develops, plans, and executes the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes for respective areas of responsibility (including Promotions Accounting, Roaming/Reseller, and Wireless Inventory).
- Ensures the accurate compilation and reporting of financial statements and supplemental schedules, including the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement for all reportable segments and the company.
- Identifies and drives operational improvement opportunities and best practices for Accounting and works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure opportunities and recommendations are implemented.
- Leads the development of strategies, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Provides new product support, as applicable.
- Analyzes, generates insights, and articulates business unit financial results.
- Maintains substantive and material interaction with functional areas of the company.
- Acts as a key liaison between the company and auditors (both internal and external) in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.
- Coordinates and oversees the Sarbanes-Oxley activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing, and segregation of duties.
- Selects, develops, coaches, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Works on highly complex special financial and accounting projects in support of the overall organizational strategies, initiatives, and projects.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience or specialized training.
- Active CPA certification.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems and applications including SAP, PMR/Essbase, Group Reporting, Verizon Revenue Recognition Engine, wSAP, and POS, Vision, and Blackline.
- Strong knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, tax reporting, and accounting practices (primarily 606 accounting and inventory accounting).
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- People management/leadership skills.
- Process improvement mindset.
- Good team, organizational planning skills, sound judgment, calm but works with a high sense of urgency, attention to detail, and strong time management.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent
- Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry
Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.Scheduled Weekly Hours
