The Opportunity:
Revolution Medicines is seeking an experienced and collaborative accounting leader to serve as the Director of Accounting. This position will lead the Company’s US general ledger accounting function and oversee key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed asset, lease, stock administration and related financial reporting activities.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Accounting, this role will lead and develop a high-performing team, maintain strong internal controls, drive operational excellence, and implement scalable accounting processes to support the Company’s continued growth. The Director will partner closely with Consolidation, Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Legal, IT, and other business functions.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the General Ledger Accounting function and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial results.

Manage and develop General Ledger Accounting team members by establishing clear performance expectations, providing coaching and feedback, and fostering professional growth.

Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, equity and other general ledger activities.

Ensure balance sheet accounts are appropriately reconciled, reviewed, and supported, with timely resolution of reconciling items.

Partner with Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting teams to support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and other functions to ensure accurate and complete accounting for business activities.

Review accounting results and perform analytical reviews to identify unusual trends, variances, or accounting issues and ensure timely resolution.

Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls over general ledger and financial close processes, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and Company policies.

Partner with the SOX Compliance team on control documentation, testing, remediation activities, user access reviews, and segregation-of-duties assessments for financial systems.

Support internal and external audit activities related to general ledger accounts and close processes, coordinating audit requests and ensuring timely resolution of inquiries.

Establish and monitor key performance indicators and close metrics to improve the timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency of the accounting close.

Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to increase scalability, strengthen controls, and improve operational efficiency.

Support accounting system implementations, finance transformation initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and other cross-functional projects as needed.

Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation related to general ledger activities and ensure consistent application across the organization.

Serve as a key accounting partner to business stakeholders, providing guidance on accounting processes, financial controls, and transaction-related matters.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant general ledger and financial close experience and demonstrated people leadership.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial close processes, and internal controls.

Experience working in a public company environment and with SOX compliance requirements.

Demonstrated experience managing complex monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing accounting teams.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
Preferred Skills:

CPA designation is preferred.

Experience with NetSuite and Coupa systems.

Experience with commercial-stage biopharma companies.
