As a Corporate Tax Manager at Gurobi Optimization, your primary responsibility will be to ensure strict adherence to tax laws and regulations, here and abroad, aligning with our commitment to financial precision within the organization. Collaborating closely with our operations, finance and accounting team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the punctual and precise reporting of financial data for the purposes of our tax regulatory filings. Your duties will encompass the oversight of all tax-related operations, including the preparation and submission of tax returns, overseeing tax audits, and providing informed guidance to the leadership team regarding pertinent tax legislation and regulations.
This role requires a strong understanding of both local and international tax laws, regulations, and strategies. The Tax Manager will ensure the company complies with all tax obligations while identifying opportunities for tax optimization and mitigation of tax risks.
The role requires coordination with various internal stakeholders and external advisors across the jurisdictions in which the company operates. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical tax knowledge, leadership abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset.
What will you be doing?
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns (corporate, VAT, indirect taxes, and other applicable taxes) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Review tax filings and assist in managing audits, reviews, and interactions with tax authorities, including coordination with third-party tax specialists.
- Preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions and financial statement disclosures in compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP).
- Manage transfer pricing policies and documentation to ensure they meet regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Identify and assess tax risks related to operations across multiple jurisdictions and work with the business to mitigate these risks.
- Monitor changes in local and international tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide updates to senior management.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient structures and strategies across multiple jurisdictions, minimizing tax liabilities while remaining compliant with local laws.
- Provide guidance on the tax impact of international expansion and cross-border transactions.
- Monitor tax positions taken by the company, ensuring they are in line with legal requirements and minimizing exposure to audits and penalties.
- Collaborate with the finance and legal teams to assess tax implications for business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other corporate transactions.
- Act as the point of contact for tax-related questions from various departments (e.g., legal, finance, HR, operations).
- Collaborate with finance and operation team members to drive tax efficiency and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
- Oversee the work of external tax consultants and advisors when needed.
- Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness throughout the organization, providing training and support as needed.
What experience and qualifications should you have?
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, including exposure to international tax matters and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
- Strong knowledge of corporate income tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes across different tax jurisdictions.
- Experience with transfer pricing regulations and preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Understanding of international tax treaties and how they impact business operations.
- Proven ability to develop and implement tax strategies that align with business objectives.
- Proficiency in financial systems, such as Netsuite and PowerBI.
