We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced corporate and controllership accountants with hands-on expertise in financial reporting, general ledger ownership, period-end close, reconciliations, and core accounting operations.
This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on translating real-world accounting and controllership workflows into structured evaluation materials. Selected professionals will develop realistic accounting scenarios, review model-generated outputs for accuracy and GAAP compliance, and provide detailed written feedback across financial reporting, bookkeeping, and operational accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Scenario Development
- Design realistic scenarios involving financial-statement preparation and reporting
- Develop tasks covering journal entries, account analysis, and supporting schedules
- Create practical assignments reflecting routine and complex controllership responsibilities
- Ensure scenarios accurately represent professional accounting workflows and documentation standards
Period-End Close & Reconciliations
- Develop and review month-end, quarter-end, and period-end close scenarios
- Evaluate general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
- Assess accruals, prepaid expenses, cut-off considerations, and adjusting entries
- Identify calculation errors, unsupported balances, and incomplete close procedures
Accounting Operations
- Create tasks involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bookkeeping operations
- Review fixed-asset registers, depreciation schedules, and related journal entries
- Assess transaction coding, account classification, and operational accounting controls
- Evaluate whether accounting treatments are complete, consistent, and appropriately supported
AI Output Evaluation & Feedback
- Review and compare AI-generated accounting outputs for accuracy and GAAP compliance
- Assess journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and reporting conclusions
- Identify unsupported assumptions, classification errors, and weaknesses in professional judgment
- Provide clear written feedback explaining strengths, errors, and required corrections
- Collaborate asynchronously with research and quality-review teams
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- At least 3–5 years of corporate, in-house, public accounting, or client accounting experience
- Hands-on ownership of the general ledger and period-end close process
- Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and core US GAAP principles
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and accounting operations
- Experience reviewing accounting work prepared by other professionals
- Excellent written communication and close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently within an asynchronous project environment
Educational Background
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline is highly relevant
- CPA credentials may strengthen an application
- Advanced accounting coursework or professional training may also be valuable
- Equivalent senior-level experience in corporate accounting, controllership, or client accounting services may be considered
Nice to Have
- Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar accounting platforms
- Advanced Excel or spreadsheet-modelling skills
- Background in bookkeeping or client accounting services
- Experience supporting audits, financial reviews, or management reporting
- Familiarity with fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and prepaid-expense accounting
- Knowledge of close checklists, account-certification processes, and reporting controls
- Previous involvement in task writing, rubric development, structured evaluation, or AI training-data work
- Experience working across multiple entities, business units, or accounting systems
