Position Overview
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Controller to lead plant-level financial operations, costing, and accounting activities within a fast-paced production environment. This position will play a critical role in driving financial accuracy, supporting operational decision-making, and partnering closely with plant leadership to improve overall business performance. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, audit support, and financial reporting. This role will serve as a key business partner to leadership, helping translate financial data into actionable insights that support profitability, efficiency, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all plant-level accounting and financial operations, including month-end close, reporting, and analysis.
- Own P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking.
- Lead cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and product/program/quote costing.
- Analyze financial results and proactively identify risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
- Partner with plant leadership to support operational decision-making and strategic planning.
- Act as a key financial business partner to the General Manager and leadership team.
- Prepare, support, and manage audit activities, including documentation and auditor interaction.
- Utilize ERP/CMS or similar manufacturing systems for data extraction, validation, and financial analysis.
- Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting structure within a growing or evolving environment.
- Support inventory accounting, material valuation, and manufacturing cost accuracy.
- Develop financial models and analysis to support business decisions and operational initiatives.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular reporting and insight to leadership.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives from a financial perspective, including cost reduction and efficiency opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of finance experience within a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Strong experience in cost accounting, including product, program, or quote costing.
- Experience analyzing financial data to explain business performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Hands-on experience supporting audits, including preparation, documentation, and auditor interaction.
- Experience using ERP, CMS, or similar manufacturing systems for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience working in environments with limited or evolving processes/controls.
- Leadership experience, including prior responsibility for managing a finance or accounting team.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
