Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Controller to join their team. This highly visible role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, inventory management, internal controls, and compliance. The Plant Controller will partner closely with plant leadership to drive profitability, operational performance, and strategic growth while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SOX requirements, and government contract accounting regulations.
Experience with manufacturing finance and Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary financial business partner to the General Manager and plant leadership team.
Lead and develop the accounting and finance organization, including general accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting functions.
Manage Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting for government and marine-related programs, including forecasting, margin analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Direct annual budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, capital expenditure planning, working capital management, and cash flow forecasting activities.
Oversee monthly financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Establish and maintain effective internal controls across all financial and operational processes.
Analyze financial and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve profitability, cost management, and efficiency.
Lead compliance efforts related to US GAAP, SOX requirements, government contract regulations, and audit activities.
Prepare and present financial reviews, business performance updates, and management reporting packages.
Develop manufacturing burden rates and support product costing initiatives.
Oversee physical inventory programs, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy improvements.
Support customer and supplier contract negotiations through financial analysis and business case development.
Evaluate and justify capital investments that support strategic business objectives.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and talent development within the finance organization.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
Experience working with ERP systems and enterprise planning tools.
Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and business partnering skills.
Ability to thrive in a hands-on manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred:
CPA or CMA certification.
Experience with Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting.
Experience supporting government contracts, defense programs, or highly regulated manufacturing operations.
Experience with Epicor, OneStream, or similar ERP and financial planning platforms.
Compensation: $135k-$165k plus 15% Bonus, 6%+ 401K match, benefits (commensurate with experience)
