Controller
Purpose of Position:
Direct an effective corporate wide Accounting support system; Administer and monitor the areas of financial reports, accounts payable, IHS Compact funds, annual tax reporting, financial audits, payroll, general ledger, operating and capital budgets; Provide expertise to management and staff on accounting functions meeting legal, regulatory, procedural and policy requirements; Review monthly departmental variance reports for accuracy; and, Direct assigned employees, demonstrating leadership by providing work direction, motivation, training, assistance, performance evaluation and corrective action.

Essential Functions:
- Perform leadership functions including selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline; Instill passion in assigned staff for NSHC’s mission, vision, and values, paying particular attention to the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment
- Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while overseeing the department's budget; Forecast needs, allocate resources and/or take corrective action as necessary; Assist CFO during audits
- Monitor and maintain budgetary and fiscal constraints and responsibilities in the area of accounting including reviewing all Journal entries and ensures reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts; Review financial statements and general ledger accounts and entries for accuracy and ensure accounts payable is processed accurately and on schedule, paying close attention to authorizations to pay, documentation of receipt of goods or satisfactory performance of service, accurate amounts, and correct account coding
- Direct the preparation of all required tax forms within established deadlines, including W-2s, 1099s, 990, 941, and ESC reports and ensure IRS files are kept in a logical and organized manner
- Direct preparation of annual personnel, capital operating and revenue budgets and completion of product as designated by Corporate Officers
- Perform professional accounting work such as gathering information for the Medicare Cost Report and other Medicare inquiries, as well as preparing the annual indirect cost proposal and maintain knowledge of the regulations surrounding its preparation
- Ensure efficient procedures and effective use of corporate housing funds and esure payroll is accurate and timely
- Administor on-call duties
- Perform other duties as assigned
