Position Summary:
New Tech Machinery, an operating company of Architectural Metals Technologies (“AMT”), is seeking a hands-on Controller to own the accounting function at the plant level. This is a working role, not a purely supervisory one. The Controller closes the books, manages cash and working capital, owns inventory and standard cost integrity, carries the entity's tax and licensing compliance, and serves as the finance partner to operations leadership on the floor.

The Controller reports to the NTM Vice President on day-to-day priorities and to the AMT CFO on accounting policy, close calendar, and internal control. Consolidation and external reporting are handled at the corporate level; this role is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the data that feeds it.

Job Duties:
Monthly Close and Operational Reporting
- Own the monthly close for NTM, delivering complete and accurate results within the corporate close calendar
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce monthly financial statements and operating reports for the NTM Vice President and the AMT CFO, with written variance commentary
- Partner with operations, sales, and engineering leadership to explain results and flag emerging issues before they hit the P&L
- Prepare schedules and support for annual audit, tax, and insurance requests
Cash and Working Capital
- Own the working capital cycle — AR collections, AP timing, and inventory turns — and drive measurable improvement
- Oversee credit and collections, including customer credit review, aging management, and escalation of past-due accounts
- Manage disbursements and payment timing to balance vendor relationships against cash preservation
- Oversee company bank accounts, merchant credit card processing, and administration of the corporate card program
- Report working capital metrics and cash forecast variances to the NTM Vice President and the AMT CFO
Inventory and Standard Costing
- Own inventory accounting: raw materials, WIP, and finished goods valuation
- Maintain the standard cost system, including annual cost rolls and interim updates
- Analyze and explain purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead variances
- Maintain labor and overhead absorption rates; validate routings and bills of material with engineering and production
- Partner with the Materials Manager to maintain the accuracy of physical inventory and cycle counts, and
establish a formal process for investigating, resolving, and following up on count variances with materials and production teams
- Maintain reserves for excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory
- Provide product-level margin analysis to support pricing and product line decisions
Capital, Fixed Assets, and Project Costing
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger, depreciation schedules, and capital project tracking
- Prepare and review capital expenditure requests, including payback and ROI analysis
- Track costs on internal projects and capitalize appropriately under AMT policy
Tax, Compliance, and Licensing
- Manage state and local tax obligations, including sales and use tax, income and franchise tax filings, and nexus monitoring as the business expands
- Own business license registrations and renewals across all jurisdictions in which NTM operates
- Maintain the compliance calendar and ensure filings are complete, accurate, and on time
- Manage exemption certificate collection and maintenance
- Serve as the entity contact for state tax notices, audits, and examinations, coordinating with corporate and outside advisors
- Support property tax filings and unclaimed property reporting
Controls and Team
- Supervise, develop, and provide backup coverage for a team of 1–3 in AP, AR, and general accounting
- Maintain and enforce internal controls, including the NTM purchase order approval workflow and dollar thresholds
- Support ongoing ERP work at NTM, including configuration, testing, and process design in NetSuite
