About the Role
Inspired HR is working with a client to hire for a Controller role. We are looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Controller to lead our multi‑entity finance function. This role is ideal for a CPA with a blend of public practice and industry experience who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys improving systems, and can confidently manage both day‑to‑day operations and strategic initiatives.
You will oversee accounting, tax compliance, cash flow management, reporting, and team leadership across several companies. If you enjoy building structure, driving efficiency, and partnering with external advisors on complex matters such as reorganizations, this role offers the autonomy and impact you’re looking for.
What You’ll Do
- Lead full‑cycle accounting for multiple companies, including month‑end and year‑end close
- Oversee corporate and indirect tax compliance (T2, GST/PST, payroll filings)
- Prepare and monitor monthly cash flow budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Review, manage, prepare corporate tax returns and personal tax returns
- Manage payroll and group benefits for multiple entities
- Build and enhance Power BI dashboards for financial and operational insights
- Coordinate corporate reorganizations with external accountants and legal counsel
- Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and accountability
- Improve processes, internal controls, and financial reporting systems
- Support strategic decision‑making with clear, data‑driven analysis
- Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, planning, and business initiatives
- Explore and implement technology solutions, including AI-driven tools, to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and resource optimization

What You Bring
- CPA designation (or equivalent)
- 5–10+ years combined experience in public practice and industry
- Experience managing multiple entities and complex corporate structures
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, GST/PST, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to prepare and review corporate tax returns
- Strong cash flow forecasting and budgeting skills
- Power BI experience (dashboard creation or strong analytical capability)
- Experience coordinating corporate reorganizations with external advisors
- Leadership experience managing and developing finance teams
- A tech‑forward mindset with enthusiasm for automation and system improvements
