Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained to hire a Controller to join our confidential client. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will be a full-time, on-site position in the Pittsburgh, PA general area.

Position Summary
The Finance Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and play a key role in improving the efficiency, pace, and overall effectiveness of the finance function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this person will help create stronger accounting discipline, improve reporting timeliness, and bring a more proactive, business-minded approach to managing financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments and knows how to focus effort on the financial priorities that drive the greatest business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close
- Improve the speed and consistency of the monthly close process while ensuring reporting accuracy
- Manage multiple sets of books and maintain strong organization across accounting processes
- Prepare timely monthly financial reporting packages for CFO review and leadership reporting
- Identify inefficiencies in current accounting workflows and implement more effective processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and routine financial analysis as requested by the CFO
- Manage the timely completion of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements, including corporate income tax, payroll tax, and estimated quarterly payments; partner with external tax advisors to identify planning opportunities and ensure the business remains audit-ready
- Monitor debt covenants and lender- or sponsor-required financial metrics, including leverage ratios, interest coverage, and EBITDA targets; prepare accurate and timely covenant reporting and flag potential compliance issues early to support proactive planning
- Help ensure accounting team efforts remain focused on material business priorities versus low-value detail work
- Manage and support a small accounting team, helping improve accountability and execution
- Work effectively in a fast-moving environment where responsiveness and sound judgment are critical
- Support system utilization across multiple accounting platforms including ERP and cloud-based accounting tools
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience serving as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager in a fast-paced or private equity-backed environment
- Strong accounting foundation with the ability to improve processes and create operational efficiency
- Comfortable working hands-on in a smaller organization where resources may be lean
- Demonstrates sound business judgment and understands how to prioritize work based on business impact
- Able to move quickly, make decisions efficiently, and operate with a sense of urgency
- Prior experience in lower middle market businesses or entrepreneurial organizations preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting operations
- Strong organizational and process improvement skills
- ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience preferred
- CPA is not required
