Responsibilities
- Oversee general accounting functions including sales and expense recognition, A/R, A/P, payroll, inter-company accounting, general ledger, cash management, reconciliation, financial statement reporting, and balance sheet management.
- Direct and manage the accounting department’s workload, ensuring invoices, expenses, receivables, and payroll are processed timely and in accordance with company policy.
- Help maintain and strengthen internal controls; support documentation and testing efforts and segregation of duties.
- Support internal and external audits and help implement resulting recommendations within your areas of responsibility.
- Provide technical accounting guidance (US GAAP) across company entities; may include involvement in due diligence for acquisitions/dispositions as needed.
- Ensure financial records under your responsibility comply with company policy and US GAAP; review monthly/quarterly reconciliations.
- Ensure financial reports comply with policy, US GAAP, and government reporting requirements.
- Support year-end close and tax reporting requirements (income, property, sales/use, payroll, and other local taxes).
- Evaluate and help improve accounting systems and procedures, recommending changes to increase efficiency.
- Help build and develop a strong accounting team capable of meeting department objectives.
- Collaborate regularly with Operations, Sales, DC, and Customer Service leaders.
- Take on special projects as assigned.
- Manage some combination of the following functions/teams: Controller or General Accountants, DC Accountants, Credit, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and Daily Balancing (scope can flex based on candidate strength).
Qualifications
- BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and progressive accounting experience.
- 3–5 years in a supervisory, lead, or management capacity within accounting/finance.
- Solid working knowledge of US GAAP, payroll/sales tax fundamentals, and general ledger relationships with subsidiary ledgers (cash, A/R, A/P, purchasing).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, not required.
- CPA a plus, not required.
