The Opportunity

The Controller is responsible for leading the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information while supporting strategic business decisions in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment. The Controller partners closely with executive leadership to improve financial processes, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive operational efficiency. This position is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and requires a full-time onsite presence.

Responsibilities

·      Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.

·      Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

·      Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

·      Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.

·      Manage annual financial statement audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.

·      Oversee tax compliance, including sales and use tax, income tax support, and other state and federal reporting requirements.

·      Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support business operations.

·      Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.

·      Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

·      Support ERP, accounting system, and process improvement initiatives, including automation and scalability.

·      Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

·      Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, skills, and experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·       CPA license strongly preferred.

·       12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.

·       Experience with startup environments is strongly preferred.

·       Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes.

·       Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.

·       Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or Oracle).

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

·       Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

·       Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

·       Ability to work onsite full-time in Scottsdale, Arizona.
