CWF Restoration is a fast-paced, growing restoration company that helps homeowner, and businesses recover from water, fire, and other property damage when things go sideways. We are looking for an experienced, dependable Controller to lead our accounting operations, oversee financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and month-end close, and provide clear financial guidance to ownership and senior leadership. This role is ideal for a highly organized, analytical, and trustworthy hands-on leader who can manage the day-to-day accounting function, lead a small team, adapt quickly as priorities shift, and help ensure the company continues to grow responsibly and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, collections, and general ledger activity.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, cash-flow reports, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, invoices, payments, deposits, and expense documentation.
- Oversee bank, credit card, vendor, intercompany, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial analysis.
- Monitor company performance, identify financial trends, and provide actionable recommendations to ownership and management.
- Oversee job costing, project profitability, revenue recognition, billing, and restoration project-related accounting.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and help lead collection strategies.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
- Identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and financial risks, and implement corrective solutions.
- Partner with department leaders to improve financial processes, reporting, and accountability.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential financial records.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership ability to effectively manage, develop, and support a three-person accounting team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and cash-flow management.
- Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close.
- Experience with accounting, payroll, and financial reporting software.
- Experience in restoration, construction, property services, or another job-costing environment preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and confidential matters.
