ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corporate Controller is a key member of the finance and accounting team, supporting the company's strategic and operating plans in close partnership with operations, projects, and business development. This role independently manages a broad set of accounting responsibilities and requires a self-starter with strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
The Controller provides analysis and management of revenues and costs to maximize profitability, and plays a key role in managing the finance function through continuous improvement and close collaboration with operations. The role is expected to help maintain a professional culture aligned with company values and to foster a positive, collaborative attitude within the on-site team.
This position typically works traditional business hours; occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet customer and business needs.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO
- Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition, and reconcile performance against budget.
- Analyze, track, and review project budgets on a timely basis; prepare project budget forecasts and report variances.
- Partner with Project Managers to develop and monitor project performance metrics.
- Deliver accurate, timely monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee payroll processing, employment audits, and related external reporting.
- Review and strengthen internal controls as the organization grows.
- Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Manage financial transactions, including payments and collections, with customers and vendors.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and work papers, and coordinate the annual external audit.
- Supervise accounting department staff and coordinate workflow across departments.
- Coordinate the development of budgets and forecasts with Project Managers.
- Monitor internal controls, develop new processes as needed, and maintain documentation of company-wide financial processes.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Identify and lead financial improvement initiatives.
- Ensure financial policies and procedures align with company requirements.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED
- Ability to collect and analyze data, solve problems, and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to present financial information clearly and respond effectively to questions from operations and leadership.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with proven experience supervising a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong command of Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).
- Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and commodity cost tracking in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with operations, plant, and logistics teams in a food manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant.
- Prior supervisory or management experience.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Food industry experience preferred.
- SAP or equivalent ERP system experience preferred.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in manufacturing areas. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
