Basic Function:
Responsible for leading and managing the accounting operations of the company, to
include the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting systems, and
comprehensive controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the
company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally
accepted accounting principles.
Duties and Responsibilities
⦁ Drive strategic initiatives, execute business plans, and maintain a big-picture
perspective.
⦁ Lead financial integrity and foster collaboration in managing Cranemasters’
accounting systems and processes.
⦁ Oversee all accounting and financial functions: A/P, payroll, reporting, billing,
taxes, P&L, asset management, collections, budgeting, etc.
⦁ Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting; manage cash flow, forecasting, and
provide short- and long-term financial analyses.
⦁ Maintain supported accounting systems and records; implement and monitor key
financial and operational controls for compliance.
⦁ Develop and enforce internal processes, policies, and procedures to improve
efficiency and effectiveness.
⦁ Monitor cash flow and P&L performance; review bank accounts daily.
⦁ Provide leadership for financial and project accounting aligned with operational
and strategic goals.
⦁ Review monthly reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and oversee balance sheet,
revenue estimates, expenses, and allocations.
⦁ Manage monthly and year-end closings; ensure deadlines are met.
⦁ Participate in audits; oversee tax compliance and licensing.
⦁ Coordinate submission of financial data to external accounting firm for annual
review.
Basic Function:
Responsible for leading and managing the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting systems, and comprehensive controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Ensures that all activities are carried out in a safe, effective, and efficient manner so as to protect employees and the assets of the Company.
1. Ability to see the “big picture”, implement strategic initiatives and execute business plans.
2. Provides leadership driving financial integrity and promoting a collaborative environment in accomplishment of the effective financial management of Cranemasters accounting systems/processes.
3. Responsible for the oversight and management of all accounting and financial functions including: A/P, A/R, Payroll, Reporting, Billing, Taxes, P&L, Asset Management, Collections, Budget, etc.
4. Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, manages cash flow and forecasting, provides periodic financial snapshots and both short and long-range analyses.
5. Maintains properly supported accounting system and records. Implements and monitors effective key financial and operational controls; coordinates and monitors accounting department calendar and checklists to ensure timely reporting/compliance.
6. Responsible for the development and implementation of effective internal processes, accounting policies and procedures to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Monitors and reports on the efficiency and effectiveness of cash flow and P&L performance; reviews bank accounts on a daily basis.
8. Provides leadership for financial and project accounting in support of operational and strategic business plans.
9. Reviews monthly reconciliations of the G/L to sub-ledgers as well as supporting documentation, ensures timely identification and resolution of differences.
10. Provides ownership and oversight of the Company’s balance sheet, revenue estimates, direct and indirect expenses, etc.
11. Oversees monthly accruals, fixed assets and allocation of balance sheet accounts and department expenses.
12. Ensures monthly closing and year-end closing activities and reporting are accomplished accurately and meeting established deadlines.
13. Participates in audits as required, directs activities of subordinates associated with accurate preparation and payment of all property taxes, sales tax, business licensing, etc.
14. Responsible for coordination and submission of financial information to external accounting firm for annual review.
15. Responsible for performance management of direct reports. Establishes goals and objectives for each team members ensuring that expectations are clearly defined, and that regular feedback is provided.
16. Provides support and leadership to members of the Senior Management Team.
17. Conducts periodic departmental meetings to promote a team-based work environment, pro-actively communicates information, maintains an open-door policy, and motivates personnel.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Required Travel: Minimal (Occasional travel to other Cranemaster’s Divisions, travel for conferences, workshops, seminars meetings, and/or training)
Subordinate Positions: Accountant, Senior Accountant, Function Manager(s)
Immediate Supervisor’s Title: CFO
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting and/or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years related work experience, construction or rail industry preferred.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.
3. Superior ability to handle complex account reconciliations, budgets, reports, etc.
4. Highly proficient computer skills with ability to learn and use specialty software including Timberline and ViewPoint.
5. Highly organized, ability to identify problems and develop/present/implement appropriate resolution, self-motivated, takes ownership of their work and performs in a proactive manner.
6. Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
7. Must be capable of producing reports and associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
8. Team player with ability to participate in planning processes and work with others to meet goals and objectives.
9. Must project positive and professional image when interacting with co-workers, customers, and vendors presenting an appropriate reflection of Cranemasters while responding to questions, seeking information, or managing projects/work.
10. Recognizes that work is often not accomplished in an 8-hour day/40-hour work week and puts in the effort and time necessary to meet deadlines and deliver quality results.
11. Good driving record; must reflect a total accumulation of no more than five negative points within the past three years, or a major violation within the past three years.
12. Able to read, write and speak English.
13. Must pass qualification tests as required (includes: ERail Safe and other training/safety programs).
Physical Demands:
1. This position requires significant work at a desk, but also requires walking, talking, standing as needed to meet with employees, travel to various divisions, participate in meetings, etc.
2. Requires lifting up to 20 pounds (files/computers/etc.) and bending
3. Works extended hours as work load and deadlines dictate.
4. Ability to work well while under considerable stress/pressure.
