Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and cost accounting functions within the manufacturing operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, cost analysis, and budgetary control to support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, and profitability. The Manufacturing Controller works closely with plant management, corporate finance, and operations teams to provide clear financial insight into production activities while ensuring compliance with internal controls, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all accounting operations for manufacturing facilities, including cost accounting, inventory control, and production reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for plant operations.
- Develop and maintain standard costing systems and ensure accurate product cost data.
- Monitor and report on manufacturing variances, labor costs, material usage, and overhead allocation.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual operating plans and capital expenditure budgets.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Direct and oversee month-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Manage all accounts receivable activities, including billing, collections, and reporting.
- Ensure SOX compliance, maintain strong internal controls, and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Lead and coordinate the annual audit process for manufacturing operations.
- Manage physical inventory counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide financial analysis and modeling to support strategic projects and investment decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or cost accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing operations, and GAAP.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Flo Qast and or Adaptive FP&A software.
- Experience with a 4-day close process.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
